Young people are not only the future of the church, they are a vital part of its present day life. The St. James Episcopal Cathedral Youth Group brings together youth Junior High and High School age for fun activities and fellowship. We meet the last Saturday of every month, alternating between an activity at the Cathedral and an activity somewhere in Fresno area.
Our first event this past March was at Bulldog Bowling on the Fresno State Campus. Dean Ryan tagged along and showed us how to bowl a winning game, but also participate in healthy competition. In April, we met at the church and played outdoor games, giving our youth a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather and some delicious pizza. For May, we headed out once again, this time to Blackbeard’s where we played a round of mini-golf and enjoyed bonding and playing games in the cool arcade.
Any child age 10-18 is welcome to join the St. James Cathedral Youth Group. Starting in the Fall we are planning on meeting twice a month and offer more opportunities for our youth to be involved in their Cathedral community.
Our upcoming events:
Pool Party at Jenning’s Residence- July
Movie Night at St. James- August
Zoo Trip- September
Currently the youth group is being sponsored by the Cabbiness Family, who also graciously assist in planning and hosting the youth events. Kourinthia Burton organizes and leads the youth activities and is always available if you have any questions.
