St. James Cathedral's Service Music Series

St James Service Music Series is here to enhance your Service experience with a series of guest musicians playing amazing, beautiful music during the services. These musicians are here not just for "fun", but rather to enhance your service experience by offering different and unique styles of music that will help bring a unique perspective to the lessons and prayers.
Think about any of your favorite movies and then think about how much of an effect the musical soundtrack has on you as a viewer.
These musical performances will give you a new, richer experience. Come GROW with us!

Two for the Road
July 10th

Guest music for our July 10th service is provided by Two for the Road. The duet, Donn Beedle (fiddle/viola) and Karana Hattersley-Drayton (vocals/keyboard), play a mix of Celtic and American roots music and will be joined by Larry Cusick on Ulinnean pipes, Irish flute and fiddle. Music for Sunday's service will feature Irish and Scottish fiddle tunes and hymns. Donn and Karana are also part of a Celtic quartet, Pipe on the Hob; Larry is the leader of the local band, Lark. We are so excited to have them with us at St. James!!

Evo Bluestein
July 24th

Evo Bluestein was raised in a folk music family and from an early age was exposed to many of America's great bearers of traditional culture. He is a well-known teacher and performer, a clogger and a dane caller, an optima fiddler, and plays mandolin and guitar, Cajun/zydeco fiddle, and accordion. He's an Avant garden banjo composer, autoharp Hall of Fame, and a broad source of American folk songs. We are so happy to have him with us at St. James!

The Gilly Girls Band
August 7th

The GillyGirls Band is an award-winning, Americana band from California! Their sound results in high-energy, old-time country (complete with yodeling) and gospel music. In their vintage-inspired dresses and cowgirl boots, these charming, young ladies bring refreshing wholesomeness to performances! The four sisters call themselves an Americana, Bluegrass band.

Eric Cymanski
August 14th
Mr. Cymanski has earned a B.A. in Music Education and a M.A. in music Performance and graduated with honors. Musical groups he has performed with include the CSUF Jazz Band, British Brass Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Marching Band. During college, he was active with the national honorary band fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi. He was once the Band Director at Selma High where his band played for President Clinton and Senator Dole. He was an Assistant Band Director at Clovis High, where he taught Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Marching Band. He currently teaches music at Red Bank, Sierra Vista, and Mickey Cox Elementary schools in the Clovis Unified School District. His duties involve teaching orchestra and band to 5th and 6th grade students and general music to all elementary students. In 2009, he was nominated for the Crystal award by his peers in Clovis Unified for outstanding teaching. During the Winter of 2010, he proudly conducted the FMCMEA Elementary Honor Orchestra. ⁠

In his spare time he teaches private trumpet lessons, performs in the Kingsburg Summer Band, Fresno Community Band, Los Hooligans Ska Band, and is a freelance trumpeter at various churches in Fresno/Clovis area. He is married to his beautiful wife Stephanie and has two wonderful daughters, Brenna and Sydney.
